FOREIGN INVESTMENT FLOWS INTO VIETNAM’S RARE EARTH SECTOR
South Korean energy group LS Eco Energy has announced a plan to invest nearly USD 20 million in Vietnam’s rare earth sector, marking a notable move at a time when rare earth minerals are becoming increasingly strategic worldwide.
Rare earths play a critical role in electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing. The timing of this investment is particularly significant as Vietnam is tightening regulations on raw mineral exports and encouraging downstream processing and value-added development.
This signals a broader shift, Vietnam is no longer viewed only as a source of raw materials, but as a potential hub in the global rare earth value chain.
For the mining industry, this development opens up new opportunities across exploration, processing technology, mining equipment, and international collaboration.
